This year’s 5 State Fair will feature a Nationally Sanctioned Motorcycle Races on Friday night August 7th.   Harley’s, Honda’s, Triumph’s, BSA’s, Yamaha’s, will be roaring around the dirt track with their left foot out sliding over the race track to help steady them as they broad slide their motorcycles.   Running inches from each other at 90 mph with only a thin leather suit and a helmet on for protection is a dangerous way for someone to make money but they are coming from all over to do so. 

The event organizer is Ed Beckley and his Checkered Flag Productions company.  Checkered Flag is promoting races this year at the Fairgrounds Speedway this summer, and also will bring other events to the Fair on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday August 2nd – 3rd – and 4th.  “We are excited to add the motorcycle races as part of the Fair.  Southwest Kansas and the area is rich with motorcycle riders so the timing is spot on for a big race like this for the 5 State Fair,” said Beckley.  Beckley reports that local motorcycle dealer Cecil Milhoun will be riding, “The phone rang and an old friend was on the phone and he was excited about the races and it was Cecil on the phone.  He was happy and excited to hear what we were doing there and he will be racing his Honda 450 and I am sure there will be plenty of his fans cheering him on”, said Beckley.

Gates open at 6pm, racer hot laps are at 6pm, and races begin at 7:30pm.

Other classes will race as part of the night including Dwarf Cars, Mini Sprint Cars, and a 100 lap Enduro for Thunder Cars.
